Day 1: Settle in and soak it up at the Little Red School House - Oamaru

After your journey to Five Forks, we recommend doing... absolutely nothing.
Well, nothing except slipping off your shoes, pouring yourself a glass of wine, and easing into one of our outdoor double baths. Let the stress melt away as you soak under the open sky with views of rolling farmland and big horizons.

Pair your bath with a generous grazing platter or treat yourselves to a home-cooked Lumina lamb dinner—it’s tender, full of flavour, and raised right here on the property. This is your time to unwind, reconnect, and settle into the slow rhythm of the countryside.

Day 2:  Choose Your Own Adventure

Option 1, Farm Life, the Kiwi Way

Ever wondered what life on a working sheep and beef farm is really like? Join us for a narrated farm tour that takes you behind the scenes. Watch our dogs at work, see a shearing demonstration, meet the friendly farm pets, and hear stories of farming life in the heart of North Otago. It’s hands-on, heartwarming, and full of surprises.

Prefer to explore at your own pace? We’ve got two beautiful farm walks to choose from:
  • Valley View Walk (3.5km / ~1 hour): A gentle loop taking you behind a pine shelter belt and along the quiet country road—perfect for a morning stroll.

  • Pihiohio Ridge Walk (8km / ~2.5 hours): A more adventurous trail with a stream crossing, ridges, and wide views over the countryside. Great for those looking to stretch their legs and get off the beaten path.

Option 2:  5 bests things to do in and around Oamaru

Head out for a scenic day trip to explore the coast and the charm of Oamaru.
  • First Stop: Moeraki Boulders. These ancient, otherworldly stones scattered along the beach are a must-see—and make for great photos.
  • Scenic Drive: Cruise north along the coast through the beachside village of Kakanui, soaking in the sea views before arriving in Oamaru.
  • Oamaru’s Victorian Precinct: Step back in time as you wander cobblestone streets lined with heritage buildings, boutique shops, and galleries. Pop into Whitestone City if you want to fully immerse yourself in the town’s fascinating history.
  • Meet the Penguins: Round off the day with a visit to the Blue Penguin Colony. Daytime tours run from 10am–4pm, or stick around for the magical evening arrival as the penguins waddle ashore just after sunset.

Feeling energetic? Get your legs moving and explore the stunning landscapes on two wheels.
  • Bike Hire: Bring your own or rent e-bikes from Hub and Sprocket Cycles in Oamaru ($110/day or $60/half day).

  • Alps to Ocean Trail: Cycle from Oamaru to Enfield (12km), stop for a bite at The Fort, and if you're feeling up to it, continue through Windsor and all the way to the Rakis Railway Tunnel (28km). Keen for more? Head to Elephant Rocks near Duntroon (47km). We can help with transport if arranged in advance!

Make It Yours

Whether your ideal getaway involves soaking under the stars, petting friendly farm animals, exploring historic streets, or powering up a hill on a bike—there’s something here for every couple. The best part? You can pick and choose, mix and match, and go entirely at your own pace.
We’d love to host you at our farm stay in the heart of Five Forks. The kettle’s on, the bath’s steaming, and the stars are waiting. See you soon?
